Blog Entry 5 - Lyon, Paris; Day 1

And so, the official UTD trip begins

Unfortunately we arrived to Lyon a little late since there was a technical issue with the train. It took us even longer to get here than we had expected. As we arrived at about 11:00 pm, the city felt a little weird, we saw people sleeping on benches and I felt an overall estrange vibe. We finally arrived to our hotel and found Jason in the lobby talking to his wife. Although it was late, lucky for us Jason was in there and he had our keys to the rooms. I stayed with him talking a bit and he told me most of the people had already arrived. I felt really happy and excited when he told me Colby proposed to his girlfriend a few days ago in this trip but also somehow made me feel a little sad about myself. We have all made sacrifices, and I’m not saying I regret any decision so far, but although the whole idea for having someone next to you and starting a family has never been too appealing for me, something I've learned about myself is that this way of thinking  has somehow changed over this whole MBA experience. I’ve found that although this trip started as something as a “discover Europe” kind of thing, it’s slowly transitioning into more of a “discover myself” type of trip as I've learned and discovered many new things about me like I've mentioned several times over this blog already (and most likely will continue to do). Tomorrow we will have a small tour and meet with everyone, so time to see that Lyon has to offer.

Seeing a Smartcar in Europe is something usual, there are lots of different charging stations pretty much everywhere also

About to catch the train to Lyon

The train was pretty confortable to be honest.
