Cohorts, we meet again!
In the morning we met with all the Cohorts
during breakfast, it was really nice to see everyone again. After we walked thru
a Market which is there every day until noon approximately. There were a lot of
beautiful flowers and the location seemed precise for selling all these natural
things (other than flowers they had fruits, handmade desserts, a very
tasty-chicken and many other things). This market was located next to the river
which made it look much more appealing.
We went for a city excursion thru old Lyon and they split us into
different groups. Our guide was really nice and she explained a lot of things
to us, like the construction of “chathooles” and why some streets were very
narrow, this felt like a very good chance to see the touristic part of Lyon and
understand the architecture of the city. She left us at a very beautiful church
which was being remodeled and then we had to find our way back. On my way back
I got lost (as usual)and had to ask some locals for directions, although some
of them did not speak English, the ones who did were very helpful . At this
point I’ve given up on speaking French as I found out the best way to start a
conversation is by saying “excuse me/hello, do you speak English?” and then
following up with a naïve smile. Lyon doesn’t strike me as a big business city,
although it has very beautiful buildings and those whole European style streets
all over the place. We got to see some police men with big arms just walking
around the city. Although this is something natural in Peru, is was a little
shocking to some of the American students since they are not used to this
sight, now that I think about it I have never seen anything like that in Dallas.
After coming back we went for lunch with some Cohorts and we all laughed and
shared our previous days traveling before Lyon and it felt nice to have
something like that. Since in America people tend to eat really fast and go
back to do whatever they do, I can now understand why the people in France have
the 2 hour lunch tradition, the whole day felt even better after that.
First ride on the bus!
You can actually see the market down the river, on the left.
A random street in Lyon, pretty sure I took this pic for a reason, I just can't remember why.

Inside one of the traboules or secret passages.
I loved these puppets!
Inside the church where our city tour ended
Might sound redundant, but onside the church where our city tour ended
